How to apply for a Visa for Visiting US

U.S. as one of the most visited countries in the world has a way of allowing the non-citizens from all over the world to have a chance to visit its territory. A citizen of any foreign nation who desires to visit the United States will have to acquire a visa. The kind of visa that a visitor requires to enter the US either for business which is (visa category B-1), or as a tourist, visitation or for pleasure which is (visa category B-2), or both purposes combined (B-1/B-2) is known as the non-immigrant and it is temporal. This can be done in various ways one of them being applying for the US green Card which enables the applicants to work and live in the US permanently.

STEPS IN APPLICATION

Generally, the order unto which one can apply for the visa varies at the U.S. Embassy. However, it’s advisable for the applicant to consult the instructions available on the embassy or visit their website for the information.

1. Understand the type of a visa that is required.

The type of the visa is reflected on the kind of visitation that is there ie; either for leisure, or tourism and also visiting friends. This information enables the embassy to determine their approval or not.

2. Complete the Online Visa Application.

Online application for the Non-immigrant would require:

· The applicant to complete the online application.

· They print the confirmation page of the application form in order to bring it along to the interview.

· All applicants ought to have a valid passport in the application process.

· Photo of the applicant should be uploaded which completing the online form DS-160. And in case it fails to upload, they will be expected to bring one in the format that is required in the photograph requirements. e.g., it should be a recent photo that is not older than six months, should be colored, and should have plain white wall background and the face directly facing the camera.

3. Contact the US Embassy.

· By contacting the Embassy, it’s easier to obtain the Visa especially if it’s for a permanent residence where jurisdiction will be of vital essence.

· It also assists the embassy in knowing how soon the Visa is required in order to hasten the process if need be.

· Early preparations are also required as the process varies from one embassy or consular to another.

4. Plan the time for an interview.

· Applicants who are in the age bracket of 14 to 79 are required to undergo an interview.

· Through this process, the applicants are able to convince the consular or the Embassy about their visit where they will have the mandate to decide whether to give the visa or not.

· Many times it’s difficult to obtain a visa at the embassy which is not ones country of residence. However, the applicant will need to meet all the requirements under the U.S. law in order to receive the visa that is being applied for.

· They should also be prepared well for the interview.

Alternatively, applying for a US Green Card can ease all the processes that go together in acquiring a visa at the embassy or consular. This is because it allows the winner to get a permanent residence and all their needs pertaining their relocating to the U.S. catered for. Therefore, it’s good to understand all the requirements that go together in owning a visa to avoid confusion and misunderstanding during the process.
